Property Management Services Authority Announces New Recognised Professional Body
Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers Becomes 12th PMSA RPB
The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) announces today that the Fellows and Members of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (HKICM) have been added to the list of Recognised Professional Bodies (RPBs) under the property management (PM) industry licensing regime. The above memberships are in compliance with the requirement concerning professional qualification for the PM Practitioner (Tier 1) licence issued by the PMSA.
Dr. James WONG, Chairperson of the PMSA said, “The PMSA welcomes HKICM’s application and its successful recognition as a PMSA RPB. Construction management and PM are highly interdependent and complementary throughout the life cycle of a building. Through coordination, collaboration, and professional integration, the two can effectively enhance the quality of buildings, improve the experience of residents and users, achieve sustainable urban development, and jointly build a better community. We look forward to working closely with the HKICM in future to enhance the status and professional service standard of the PM industry in Hong Kong through the three-pronged approach of regulating by licensing, formulating Codes of Conduct and encouraging continuing professional development.”
The PMSA examined HKICM’s application based on five criteria, namely, its relevance to the PM profession in Hong Kong, membership criteria, mechanism to regulate professional conduct, requirement on members’ continuing professional development, as well as its recognition within the industry. Under the PM industry licensing regime, one of the criteria for holding PM Practitioner (Tier 1) licence is that the applicant has to hold a designated class of membership of a PMSA RPB. For details, please refer to the PMSA webpage: https://www.pmsa.org.hk/en/licensing-regime/property-management-practitioner-licence/recognised-professional-bodies.
