Property Management Services Authority Conducts Exchange with Shenzhen Institute of Property Managers

The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) conducted exchange today with members of the Shenzhen Institute of Property Managers, including President Dr Wu Yicheng, Chief Supervisor Xiao Minqi and Secretary-general Huang Shichao, during which the PMSA introduced its work and progress of implementing the property management (PM) industry licensing regime in Hong Kong. Exchanges were also made in respect of the regulatory arrangements, professional standards and continuing professional development of the PM industry.

Dr James Wong, Chairperson of the PMSA, said, “The PM industry in Shenzhen has developed rapidly. The first PM company (PMC) of the Mainland was established in Shenzhen in 1981, and within 40 years, the urbanisation of Shenzhen has led to the rapid development of the property market whereby driving the expansion of the PM industry as a result. Today, the PM industry in Shenzhen has widely adopted advanced technology and artificial intelligence to enhance PM service standard, which are worthwhile references for the PM industry in Hong Kong.”

Dr James Wong added, “The PMSA would wish to express its gratitude to the Shenzhen Institute of Property Managers for visiting the PMSA to conduct exchange shortly after their establishment. This shows that the professionalism of the Hong Kong PM industry is recognised by the Mainland industry, which is very encouraging. The PMSA will continue to enhance cooperation with different PM professional bodies on the Mainland in future, so as to understand and learn from each other the differences and competitive advantages in the PM industry of different Mainland cities, promoting healthy development of the industry as a whole that continuously moves towards professionalism and enhanced quality.”

The exchange meeting between the PMSA and the professional body of PM industry in Shenzhen further demonstrates the collaboration and integration among the PM industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Under the PM industry licensing regime, over 770 PMCs and more than 14,000 PM practitioners in Hong Kong have already been licensed by the PMSA, providing PM services to over 2.4 million units in different types of properties in Hong Kong. They are a major professional workforce and an invaluable asset and resource in driving the future development of Hong Kong.
