Owners’ Organisations Should Pay Attention to Licence Renewal Status of
​​​​​​​Property Management Companies to Ensure Continued Compliance

The year 2026 marks the important historical milestone of the 10th anniversary of the enactment of the Property Management Services Ordinance (Cap. 626) and the establishment of the Property Management Services Authority (PMSA). The PMSA today launched a new series of TV and Radio Announcements in the Public Interest (API), featuring “ProMan”, the property management (PM) industry’s image ambassador, serving in the community to safeguard the public. The API also calls on owners’ organisations to pay attention to the licence renewal status of the licensed PM companies engaged for their properties, so as to ensure continued compliance and the provision of quality and professional PM services.

Dr James WONG, Chairperson of the PMSA, said, “Following the successful implementation of the PM industry licensing regime, the PM industry has developed into a vital asset for Hong Kong society and valuable resource closely tied to our livelihood. Licensed PM companies and PM practitioners carry the mission of ‘Property Invigilators’. They not only deliver professional PM services to the public but also supports various Government policy initiatives to help address different social issues. They are an important pillar and key force in enabling members of the public to live and work in harmony, promoting community safety, and supporting the implementation of Government policies.”

Dr WONG emphasised, “A substantial number of PM company and PM practitioner licences were issued in 2023 and these three-year licences have recently been successfully renewed. This marks the smooth transition of the first peak period for licence renewal under the PM industry licensing regime, ensuring the continuous provision and normal operation of the relevant PM services. Through the new series of TV and radio API, the PMSA reminds owners’ organisations that, when engaging PM companies, they should pay attention to their licence validity periods and renewal status to ensure that the PM companies engaged continue to comply with statutory requirements.”

The new TV API features “ProMan”, the PM industry’s image ambassador, showcasing the work of PM practitioner in various aspects, including maintenance and repair of property facilities, environmental hygiene, and handling emergencies. It highlights the PM industry’s dedicated efforts behind the scenes and its active fulfilment of the mission of “Property Invigilators”, making positive contributions to enabling members of the public to live and work in harmony. The TV and radio API will be broadcast on various TV and radio channels starting today. The promotional video has also been uploaded to the PMSA website (https://www.pmsa.org.hk/tc/information-centre/videos-PMSA-promotionalvideos), and members of the public are welcome to view it.

At present, there are over 800 licensed PM companies and more than 15,000 licensed PM practitioners in Hong Kong, leading frontline PM practitioners to provide professional and diversified PM services for different types of properties across the territory.
