Property Management Services Authority Conducts Exchange with Representatives of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers

The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) today met with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) Headquarter Past President Prof. William Bahnfleth, as well as representatives of ASHRAE Hong Kong Chapter to introduce the work of the PMSA and the latest situation of the implementation of the property management (PM) industry licensing regime in Hong Kong.

Alan Siu, Chief Executive Officer of the PMSA, said, “Since the implementation of the PM industry licensing regime, the PMSA has actively established connections with various international PM professional bodies, highlighting the strengths of Hong Kong with the Chinese Mainland as hinterland and its own international outlook to link up the local industry with their counterparts in other parts of the world, thereby raising the standard and professionalism of the PM industry in Hong Kong. With the growing global emphasis on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, the adoption of high-performance facility systems has become crucial for improving property operations and reducing operational costs. In this meeting with representatives of ASHRAE, both parties engaged in discussions on topics such as industry standards, technological innovation, and environmental protection.

Mr Siu added, “ASHRAE has made significant contributions to advancing global standards in heating and air-conditioning technologies, actively promoting energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. The PMSA sincerely thanks the ASHRAE Hong Kong Chapter for its continued support of the PM licensing regime and PMSA’s work, and will proactively explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in the future.”

Under the licensing regime, there are now about 830 licensed PM companies and over 15,000 licensed PM practitioners in the market, providing PM services to different types of properties in Hong Kong. This major professional force not only provides professional PM services to the public, but also dedicates itself to supporting the implementation of various Government policies and help resolve different social issues, actively contributing towards healthy and sustainable development of the community. They are undoubtedly invaluable assets and resources of Hong Kong.
