Property Management Services Authority Conducted Exchange with the International Facility Management Association
The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) met with representatives of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) today, including Ms Ann Loayza, Director (Conferences and Events) of IFMA from the USA, President Dora Yim, Vice President Joe Chow, Director Kenneth Tsang and Chapter Administrator Tiffany Yam of the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter, to introduce the work of the PMSA and the latest position about the implementation of the property management (PM) industry licensing regime in Hong Kong, and exchanged views on the recent recognition by the PMSA of members of the "Professional Member (PMSA)" stream newly established by the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter.
Alan Siu, Chief Executive Officer of the PMSA, said, “As the statutory organisation responsible for regulating and promoting the PM industry, the PMSA relies on the continuous support from professional bodies in the industry, including the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter, to ensure the smooth implementation of the licensing regime. In the past few years, in addition to encouraging its members who are PM practitioners to apply for licences, the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter has also actively participated in various activities of the PMSA to jointly promote continuous development of the industry.”
Alan Siu added, “The IFMA Hong Kong Chapter had already been recognized as a Recognized Professional Body (RPB) of the PMSA before the implementation of the licensing regime in August 2020. To assist and encourage more members to apply for PM practitioner licences, the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter recently established a "Professional Member (PMSA)" stream and submitted application to the PMSA for recognition, which was successfully granted. The PMSA sincerely appreciates the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter’s continuous and substantial support for the licensing regime and PMSA’s work. The PMSA will continue to collaborate closely with the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter to encourage more facility management professionals to join the PM industry and enhance the professionalism of the industry for the provision of quality PM services to the community.”
Under the licensing regime, there are now nearly 820 licensed PM companies and over 15,000 licensed PM practitioners in the market, providing PM services to over 2.4 million units in different types of properties in Hong Kong. This major professional force not only provides professional PM services to the public, but also dedicates itself to supporting the implementation of various Government policies and help resolve different social issues, actively contributing towards healthy and sustainable development of the community. They are undoubtedly invaluable assets and resources of Hong Kong.
