Property Management Services Authority Conducted Exchange with
Chengdu Property Management Association
Dr James Wong, Chairperson of the PMSA, said, “Hong Kong is currently the only city in the Greater Bay Area to implement a licensing regime for the PM industry. The PMSA has introduced to the delegation in the exchange today how it has driven the development of the PM industry in Hong Kong towards enhanced quality and professionalism through the three-pronged approach of “regulating by licensing”, “formulating professional standards” and “implementing continuing professional development” since the ending of the three-year transitional period under the PM industry licensing regime in end July last year. Through strengthening exchange and collaboration with PM authorities and industries in different provinces and municipalities of the Mainland, the PMSA will continue to strive and seize development opportunities, and leverage the strengths of Hong Kong as the gateway to the international arena with the backing of the Mainland so as to generate more space for the thriving of the PM industry in Hong Kong, and to drive as a whole the healthy development of the country’s PM industry.”
Dr James Wong added, “The PMSA is aware that Chengdu has recently revised and refined in April this year the Chengdu Municipality Regulation on Realty Management (the Regulation) which has been in effect for fifteen years already, and that the revision will take effect in October. The Regulation is enacted in order to regulate property management activities, to protect safe, civilized, orderly use of property according to law, to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the owners and the property service stakeholders such as PM practitioners, etc., in order to build a harmonious, livable, high-quality work and living environment. I believe that this would undoubtedly help enhance the standard of PM in Chengdu, protect owners’ rights, enhance harmony and stability in a community such that the public can work and live in harmony.”
The exchange was arranged by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Property Managers, one of the ten PMSA recognised professional bodies.
Under the PM industry licensing regime, over 780 PM companies and more than 14,000 PM practitioners in Hong Kong have already been licensed by the PMSA, providing PM services to over 2.4 million units in different types of properties in Hong Kong. They constitute a major professional workforce, and have become invaluable asset and resources in driving the future development of Hong Kong. The CDPMA’s visit to the PMSA reflects further collaboration and integration with the PM industry of the Mainland.
