Over 250 Members of the Property Management Industry Participated in the Property Management Services Authority Continuing Professional Development Seminar To Strengthen Knowledge of Sustainable Property Management Practices

Over 250 members of the property management (PM) industry participated in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Seminar organised by the Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) in the evening today for exchanges in the areas of energy conservation and carbon reduction as well as tree planting and preservation in private properties.

Under the theme of “Management Practices”, the PMSA had invited Ms. Quince CHONG, Chief Corporate Development Officer and Mr. Gary CHIANG, Principal Manager – Business Development & Support, CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd., to share in the first half of the Seminar with the industry about how CLP supports the sustainability journey of property management companies (PMC). Mr. Ryan LIN, Head of Tree Management Office, Development Bureau, was also invited to speak in the second half of the Seminar on the topic “Tree Planting and Preservation in Private Properties”. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University provided the venue and technical support for the Seminar.

Chairperson of the PMSA Dr James WONG said, “PMC and PM practitioners (PMP) are responsible for carrying out PM work. They have the responsibility to protect the environment by adopting sustainable practices in their daily PM work.”

Chairperson WONG continued, “As the advocate of the PM industry, the PMSA actively incorporates the ESG framework, Environmental, Social and Governance, into the future development of the PM industry, driving the industry to advance with times and raise professional standard through continuous education. The PMSA encourages PMP licensees to actively participate in CPD activities organised or recognised by the PMSA under its CPD Scheme. The PMSA will also continue to work with relevant Government departments, public organisations and industry bodies to arrange PM-related seminars regularly so as to strengthen the knowledge of sustainable PM practices among members of the PM industry.”

Most participants of the Seminar were PMP licensees who would earn two recognised CPD participation hours under the PMSA’s CPD Scheme and would be awarded Certificate of Participation issued by the PMSA.

The PMSA has launched the CPD Scheme since early 2022 to encourage PMP licensees to participate in CPD activities or courses organised or recognised by the PMSA on a voluntary basis in order to strengthen their professional knowledge and skills. These activities and courses are diverse in topics and formats and cover aspects including Professional Knowledge, Law & Regulations and Management Practices with the aim to encourage the industry to advance with times and raise its professional standard.
