The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) today led a delegation consisting of the PMSA Chairperson and members, representatives of PMSA Recognised Professional Bodies and property management (PM) industry organisations to visit the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone (Qianhai), the Hetao Development Authority (Hetao), and the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, to promote collaboration and exchange of the PM industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Representative from the Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government also participated in the visit.
Dr. James Wong, Chairperson of the PMSA said, “The development of the GBA is a key national strategy devised, planned and driven by President Xi Jinping. Qianhai has now become one of the regions with the highest connectivity and closest cooperation with Hong Kong in the GBA, playing a ‘bridgehead’ role in promoting Hong Kong’s integration into the overall national development. The development of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone (Qianhai Cooperation Zone) is an important initiative to foster a higher level of collaboration among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and establishing a new development paradigm in pursuing opening up of the area.”
Dr Wong continued, “The Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone (Hetao Cooperation Zone) is one of the major platforms of cooperation in the GBA under the National 14th Five-Year Plan. The Hetao Cooperation Zone, consisting of the Hong Kong Park and the Shenzhen Park, is established under the vision of ‘one river, two banks’ and ‘one zone, two parks’. It is the country’s only major cooperation zone with two social, economic and judicial systems co-existing geographically, and with innovation and technology as the theme of development. The Hetao Hong Kong Park shoulders the important mission of driving technological development in Hong Kong and the GBA, serving as a key carrier to support Hong Kong’s future innovation and technology drive and bringing significant opportunities for high-quality development in Hong Kong. Hong Kong and Shenzhen share an interdependent relationship in development, the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, PMSA and the Home Affairs Department also share many similarities in our works, allowing valuable opportunities for mutual learning. The exchange with leaders of the three Shenzhen organisations this time embodies closer collaboration and complementary strengths between the PM industries of the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong.”
Under the PM industry licensing regime of Hong Kong, over 830 PM companies and more than 15,000 PM practitioners have already been licensed, becoming the first batch of PM companies and PM practitioners in the GBA whereby their professionalism has been assessed objectively and is in compliance with statutory requirement. This major professional workforce will contribute actively towards the future development of the community and will be invaluable asset and resources of Hong Kong as well as the whole GBA. As the statutory authority of the PM industry of Hong Kong, the PMSA will work together with various stakeholders of the PM industry to actively promote expansion of the PM industry of Hong Kong and facilitate collaboration among the cities in the GBA, foster mutual integration, explore market development opportunities, promote regional coordination and development, such that members of the public within the GBA could be provided with PM services of enhanced quality and professionalism, driving together to build a better home for all.”
The PMSA extends its gratitude to the Shenzhen Institute of Property Managers for coordinating and arranging the visit.
